I wonder what sort of goods they must have carried? I'm told merchants who trade by sea have very interesting products. Or perhaps they simply seem interesting because they come from so far away, so they are very different from what is nearby.

I couldn't say much about it, it wasn't remarkable.

No... our home in the capital was inland, so I have rarely seen the ocean.

Of course. The scenery is really very beautiful in most parts of the country... I live - er, lived, in the capital now, and it is crowded with people but also with beautiful architecture. The estates have the most lovely gardens... [she sighs a little wistfully.] When I was younger, we lived in Suzhou. It is not exactly remote, but it was a much smaller area and much less crowded. The peach trees were beautiful when their blossoms bloomed.

[back at the room after trial. she's sitting in bed, though she's probably been out drinking for a bit. but since she's in her own room, she's not thinking so much about trying to hide the fact that she's in quite a bit of pain right now. just kind of pale and sick looking, hand balled up against her chest.]
