I'll try my best. Ava was always better at it than I was.
[He's in such a good mood that he doesn't realize what he said, and he's just gathering the ingredients and setting them in their little chocolate-making area.]
Alright. Let's prepare the strawberries first then, since the chocolate will go pretty fast.
[It's easy enough work to do while his mind swirls with a million thoughts. Though eventually it becomes too much noise in his head, and he sighs before speaking.]
I don't know if it's bad luck or not to speak of those who are still alive.
...I think that it must not be. Those who are still alive are part of our motivation to return, are they not? [she shrugs as she follows along with the recipe, prepping the strawberries.] Speaking of them should only serve to keep us more motivated. It would be counterintuitive to the goal of redemption to make that into something bad.
[His emotions are swirling around inside of him, making it difficult to keep talking. So he turns his focus back to the chocolate as he talks about happier times instead.]
I actually learned how to make chocolate specifically to teach her how. She was so excited to learn it, she spent most of the evening making chocolate for her entire class. Her little brother ended up stealing some of it though, and he got a stomachache from it.
He was alright. He grew up big and tall like his other father. And Ava makes chocolates often enough still, because she always includes homemade stuff in birthday presents.

Who is Ava?

Someone from home, still alive. Do you want to put this chocolate on anything? It's good on strawberries.

I suppose on strawberries would be fine.

[Maybe what he's afraid of the most is that speaking of someone will bring them here.
He hesitates a bit longer before answering.]
...Ava is my daughter.

...I am sorry. It must be very difficult to be away from her.

[She's still his kid, and he worries about her.]

[poor little kid, eating so many sweets he got sick...]
Did she end up making chocolate regularly after that? And was her brother alright?
